Gridwiz, a Korean firm specializes in Energy (Kim Goo-Hwan, CEO) held an “Energy Blockchain Workshop’ in association with a British energy blockchain firm, Electron, on the 8th at Yangjae L-Tower. Prominent figures of the energy industry attend the workshop.
Gridwiz and Electron are engaging in a project to develop and demonstrate a “Flexible Energy Trading Blockchain Platform,” which is jointly supported by the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, and the British Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) to respond fluctuating landscape of Energy industry. This workshop is a part of their efforts in the project.
This workshop covered:
– Introduction to blockchain projects in Energy,
– Introduction to projects that Electron is currently promoting in the UK, and
– Highly sophisticated British Flexibility market and applicative values of Blockchain technology, based on project demonstrative case studies.
In addition, the workshop features debates between attendees from various walks of the energy industry over impending changes that the Korean energy industry may face.
Ryu Joon-Woo, the vice-president of Gridwiz commented that “This workshop signals the beginning of the international joint research project, and we are planning to hold open workshops focusing on case of research projects which applies Blockchain techniques near the end of this year, responding to the trends of demand response markets and distributed energy markets.”
