Company: Electron
Job type: Full-Time, remote-working model
About Electron
Electron is a grid and market intelligence company helping utilities unlock fast, low-cost network capacity by using distributed energy resources (DERs) instead of relying solely on expensive physical upgrades.
We are the leading flexibility market platform in the UK, working with over half of the country’s Distribution System Operators, and have expanded into the US through the acquisition of Rhythmos. Our technology helps utilities reduce costs, improve grid reliability, and accelerate the clean energy transition.
The role
We’re hiring a Strategic Business Development Manager to drive revenue and partnerships in the North American utility market. This is a quota-carrying, consultative sales role focused on building pipeline, navigating complex utility procurement processes, and closing long-cycle enterprise deals for Electron’s Grid-Aware Value Orchestration Platform.
You’ll act as a trusted advisor to utilities while owning pipeline creation, forecasting, and deal closure. This is not a pure strategy role—success requires strong sales execution and commercial accountability.
What you’ll do
- Build and manage a qualified pipeline across IOUs, public utilities, and cooperatives
- Lead complex 12–24 month utility sales cycles through discovery, business case development, and contract close
- Develop defensible DER business cases tied to cost avoidance, operational savings, and regulatory outcomes
- Maintain accurate forecasting and pipeline tracking in CRM
- Build and scale strategic partnerships and partner-led pipeline
- Support customer and partner grant and funding strategies where relevant
Who we’re looking for
- 4–8 years’ experience in utility, energy, or infrastructure sales or business development
- Proven success closing $250k–$1M+ enterprise deals with long sales cycles
- Strong understanding of North American utility structures and regulatory processes
- Working knowledge of DERs, VPPs, demand response, EV charging, or grid modernization
- Comfortable owning revenue targets and forecasting
- Willing to travel 25–50%
What We Offer
- Impact: Direct role in enabling the clean energy transition
- Compensation: $150–170k base + commission (DOE)
- Equity: Share option scheme
- Flexibility: Remote working model
- Benefits: 401(k), healthcare, 25 days PTO + 8 US holidays
