HR Administrator

Return

HR Administrator reporting to the COO (CEO whilst COO is on maternity leave)

Company: Electron

Job type: Part-time (2-3 days/week, including a Tuesday or Wednesday), hybrid remote and office-based working, ideally working from our London office once a month.

Overview:

Achieving net-zero requires effective flexibility markets (in which consumers are paid to use more or less power at the right time and location), working at scale. Effective flexibility markets mean: lower energy prices for consumers, faster connection of new clean energy generating assets, more efficient use of these assets, and faster adoption of other clean energy technologies such as electric vehicles, electric heating and battery storage.

Yet to date flexibility markets have failed to launch and scale. Because of this:

  • Customers are paying higher energy bills in support of old fossil fuel-burning power stations;
  • More and more clean energy is wasted each year (an astonishing £2 billion in 2022 vs £500 million in 2019);
  • New clean energy assets are stuck in ten-year grid connection queues because of ageing infrastructure designed for the world of fossil fuels; and
  • Essential clean energy technologies like battery storage are not scaling as fast as they need to be.

Without effective flexibility markets it will not be possible to deliver a future of affordable, available, clean energy for all.

At a time when we are simultaneously experiencing a climate crisis, a cost-of-living crisis and an energy crisis, delays to introducing and scaling market solutions are unacceptable.

Electron has a technology centric scalable solution. Electron offers customers the ability to create, launch and operate flexibility markets quickly and efficiently using ElectronConnect, a fully configurable flexibility market platform.

Electron’s vision is to unleash renewable abundance by connecting millions of distributed resources to thousands of coordinated markets.

We’ll do this by helping network utilities (the companies that own and operate the local grids) and municipal suppliers adopt and scale flexibility markets to manage grid congestion, improve connection rates and lower bills.

We recently completed a £4m + £1m additional fundraise to support our international growth plans, read about it here; it’s an exciting time to join us.
